One of the goals of the Waynesboro Police Foundation is to increase public awareness of the role of the police officer in a modern society. In order to fulfill this mission in a tangible way, the Foundation created an annual scholarship program for eligible high school seniors who will be seeking undergraduate education with a concentration in criminal justice or a similar field at an accredited post-secondary educational institution. The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior who meets the minimum scholarship requirements and submits the best, most compelling essay on a subject's given topic related to criminal justice.
New for 2018, the Waynesboro Police Foundation has officially dedicated our scholarship program
in memory of Auxiliary Captain, Kevin W. Quick who was tragically murdered in 2014.
The Waynesboro Police Foundation presented its 2016 college scholarship to Carly Edwards of Waynesboro on July 22, 2016.
Carly graduated from Waynesboro High School and will be attending Virginia Tech. She is the daughter of Brian and Michele Edwards.
Foundation President Kevin Blackburn and Chief of Police Mike Wilhelm were on hand to present Carly with her check.
